BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology has been deeply integrated into the full lifecycle of modern GRC engineering projects—from “creative development, production and manufacturing, to construction, operation and maintenance”—completely transforming traditional working methods and greatly improving project precision, efficiency, and collaboration. Qinglong Group adopts BIM technology as a core tool, applying it extensively in complex GRC projects such as the New World Century Plaza on Nanjing East Road in Shanghai, achieving a seamless digital connection from artistic concept to physical construction.
In the design and detailed development stage, BIM is the cornerstone for ensuring the buildability of complex shapes. The architect's conceptual model (often a Rhino model) can be imported directly into a BIM environment (such as Revit). On this basis, Qinglong's detailing team conducts constructability analysis, including rational jointing, optimizing panel dimensions and shapes to reduce the number of mold types, checking for clashes between components, and reserving space for embedded parts and service lines. Through parametric design, fabrication drawings and data for all components can be generated quickly, ensuring that thousands of GRC panels—no two alike—fit together with precision.
In the manufacturing stage, BIM data serves as the command source driving digital production. The precise 3D model obtained after detailed design can be used directly for CNC (computer numerical control) programming to machine high-precision GRC molds. Meanwhile, information in the model (such as dimensions, volumes, and embedded part positions) can be exported to guide the factory's material calculation, production planning, and quality management. Qinglong assigns a unique ID to each GRC panel, enabling quality traceability throughout the entire production process.
In the construction, installation, and operation & maintenance stages, BIM is equally valuable. Before installation, actual on-site point cloud data captured by 3D laser scanning can be compared with the BIM model to guide the precise positioning of the steel framing. During installation, construction workers can view 3D information of components on mobile devices to confirm installation positions and sequences. After completion, the delivered as-built BIM model becomes a valuable asset, providing an accurate database for later maintenance, repair, or renovation. The full-process application of BIM technology moves GRC projects from “construction” toward “intelligent manufacturing,” and Qinglong is leading the industry's in-depth development in this direction.
