The digital modeling process for complex UHPC forms is the core bridge from concept design to precise construction, involving three major stages: geometry creation, structural analysis, and manufacturing data generation. As an industry leader with 28 years of deep expertise in UHPC, Qinglong Group has distilled a standard digital modeling workflow from hands-on experience on national-level landmark projects such as the red double-curved curtain wall of the Wuhan Han Show Theatre and the wave-shaped roof of the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center: first, parametric modeling is carried out with Rhino + Grasshopper, where algorithm-driven generation of complex surfaces (such as NURBS surfaces) ensures the mathematical precision of the form; next, the model is imported into Revit for BIM detailing, integrating multi-disciplinary information such as structure and MEP for clash detection and error analysis; finally, CNC machining code is generated through CATIA or Tekla to directly drive five-axis machines to fabricate molds. In the double-curved panel project for the Shenzhen Yirui Biotechnology Building, this workflow transformed the designers' creative models into producible digital assets, keeping the cumulative installation error of more than 9,000 specially shaped panels within ±3mm and achieving a perfect fusion of art and engineering.
Parametric design allows complex forms to be generated and modified quickly by adjusting a small number of parameters (such as curvature, density, and proportion). In the "woven" facade design of the China Resources MixC One in Wuxiang, Nanning, Qinglong Group used Grasshopper to write generation algorithms that transformed traditional patterns into three-dimensional surfaces, enabling the efficient design of 2,872 UHPC panels with no two alike. The advantage of this approach lies in efficient iteration: designers can preview the results of different parameters in real time and optimize the scheme. The parametric component library we have built modularizes common form modules, boosting design efficiency on new projects by 50%.
The BIM model is the core of information integration. In the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center project, we integrated the UHPC curtain wall model with the main structure, curtain wall framing, and MEP pipeline models, identifying and resolving 137 potential clashes in advance and avoiding on-site rework. The model also incorporates material information (such as compressive strength and fire resistance rating), production data (such as mold numbers), and installation sequences, enabling visualized management of the entire process. Qinglong Group's BIM collaboration platform allows the design, production, and construction parties to work in a unified data environment, reducing information silos.
The end point of the digital model is driving production. Software (such as AutoCAD Fabrication) converts the geometric information in the BIM model into G-code recognizable by machines. The five-axis CNC machining centers introduced by Qinglong Group can mill high-precision molds directly from the model (surface profile error ≤±0.1mm). In the translucent UHPC project at Shanghai Century Plaza, digital manufacturing ensured the perfect reproduction of complex textures, with a fidelity of over 95%. The mature application of the digital modeling process is the technical guarantee that enables UHPC to achieve highly demanding forms.
