Achieving a high hollow-out rate (≥40%) in UHPC shaping requires breaking through three technical bottlenecks: structural strength, mold making, and production processes. The core lies in balancing the relationship between hollowing and load-bearing through topology optimization design, directional fiber reinforcement, and precision mold technology. In the translucent hollow-out panel project at Shanghai Century Plaza, Qinglong Group determined the optimal hole distribution through finite element analysis (maximum stress ≤5MPa), adopted composite reinforcement with steel fibers (3% volume fraction) and PVA fibers (1%), and used five-axis CNC machined molds (precision ±0.1mm), successfully producing UHPC panels with a 60% hollow-out rate and a thickness of only 15mm, with flexural strength maintained above 12MPa. High hollow-out rate technology has expanded the artistic expressiveness of UHPC.
Topology optimization algorithms are used to remove excess material while ensuring stiffness. Reinforcement ribs (width ≥20mm) are added at the edges of hollowed areas, keeping the stress concentration factor within 2.0. In the Nanning Wuxiang China Resources MixC One project, optimization reduced the weight of hollow-out panels by 40% while maintaining 85% load-bearing capacity.
Hollow-out molds require high-strength tooling board (density ≥1.0g/cm³), with reinforced structures added at thin rib sections. We developed modular molds to improve demolding success rates. In the Shenzhen Art Center project, molds with a minimum hollow-out width of 3mm achieved a service life of over 200 uses.
Vacuum-assisted molding is used to ensure uniform fiber distribution in hollowed areas. The curing regime requires slow heating and cooling (rate ≤10℃/h) to avoid thermal cracking. Qinglong Group uses X-ray inspection for internal defects, achieving a pass rate of ≥99%.
Highly hollowed panels combine decoration with functions such as light transmission, ventilation, and shading. We are developing ultra-light panels with a 70% hollow-out rate (surface density ≤25kg/m²) for future buildings. Technological innovation never ends.
