The core of material mix proportioning for lightweight GRC shapes lies in balancing "reduced density, maintained strength, and optimized workability." Premium lightweight GRC has a density controlled at 1.5-1.8g/cm³, flexural strength ≥12MPa, and flow ≥200mm. In the large suspended shapes at Chimelong Ocean Kingdom in Zhuhai, Qinglong Group incorporated lightweight aggregates such as ceramsite (particle size 2-5mm) and glazed hollow microspheres (density ≤100kg/m³) while optimizing fiber distribution (dosage 3-4%), successfully reducing component weight by 35% while maintaining sufficient load-bearing capacity. Lightweighting not only reduces structural loads but also expands the application boundaries of GRC.
Selection and grading of lightweight aggregates are critical. We select high-strength ceramsite (cylinder compressive strength ≥3MPa) as coarse aggregate, combined with glazed hollow microspheres to fill fine pores, forming continuous grading. In the Shenzhen Yirui Biotechnology Building project, aggregate optimization reduced the thermal conductivity of lightweight GRC to 0.8W/(m·K), providing thermal insulation functionality as well. In mix design, cementitious material content is controlled at 600-700kg/m³; too little affects strength, while too much increases density.
Fiber reinforcement schemes need adjustment. In lightweight GRC, the bonding conditions between fibers and matrix change, so we enhance fiber bonding strength through surface treatment. We also optimize the mixing process to prevent lightweight aggregates from floating. During construction, vibration time is appropriately extended to ensure compaction. After 28 years of development, Qinglong lightweight GRC has formed a complete product system meeting the needs of different scenarios.
Lightweighting delivers comprehensive benefits. Installation efficiency increases by 20% and transportation costs drop by 15%, making it particularly suitable for renovation and cantilevered projects. Scientific mix proportioning is the foundation for successful application of lightweight GRC.
