The grinding process of GRC decorative panels is the finishing step that determines their final surface texture, flatness, and artistic expressiveness, requiring differentiated tools, abrasives, and process paths based on the design effect (glossy, matte, exposed aggregate, imitation stone). In art projects such as the "Dongguan Grass Weaving" textured panels for the Dongguan Women and Children's Activity Center and the imitation lunar surface panels for the Shanghai Astronomy Museum, Qinglong Group has developed a tiered grinding system: coarse grinding (40-80 grit) for shaping, medium grinding (120-220 grit) for leveling, and fine grinding (400-1000 grit) for gloss, combined with wet grinding to control dust and reduce temperature. By introducing CNC robotic arm grinding equipment, we control surface flatness within ±0.5mm/2m and precisely adjust glossiness between 5-95GU as required, achieving a texture elevation from "industrial product" to "work of art".
Different stages of grinding require specialized tools. Coarse grinding removes release agent and larger defects, using diamond grinding pads; medium grinding eliminates scratches and levels the surface, using resin grinding pads; fine grinding pursues a delicate texture, requiring sponge grinding wheels or flexible grinding discs. Qinglong Group adheres to the principle of "from coarse to fine, step by step" and strictly prohibits skipping grinding stages, to avoid deep scratches that are difficult to repair.
Compared with dry grinding, wet grinding effectively reduces temperature, suppresses dust, and carries away debris, yielding a smoother surface. We precisely control the water flow (typically 5-10L/min) and grinding pressure (0.1-0.3MPa) to avoid over-diluting the slurry or damaging the panel surface. For imitation stone effects that require preserving the original texture, a "localized spot grinding" process is adopted, treating only the protruding points while retaining the natural texture.
Quality inspection must be conducted immediately after grinding, using straightedges, feeler gauges, and gloss meters. Qualified products must be thoroughly rinsed with clean water to prevent residual slurry powder from forming "white frost". Qinglong Group implements constant temperature and humidity environmental control in the grinding workshop and has established standard operating procedures (SOP) to ensure that the texture of every panel meets design expectations. Meticulous grinding is the final critical step in presenting the value of GRC.
