The load-bearing requirements of GRC panels used for suspended ceilings are a core indicator for ensuring indoor safety, requiring comprehensive consideration of dead weight, additional loads, and seismic factors. Based on 28 years of suspended ceiling project experience, Qinglong Group believes that high-quality GRC ceiling panels should meet the standards of dead weight ≤0.5kN/m², additional load ≥0.3kN/m², and seismic fortification intensity of 8, ensuring the long-term safety and reliability of the ceiling system through scientific connection design and a safety factor (set at 2.5). This load-bearing design provides an aesthetically pleasing and safe ceiling solution for large public buildings.
Dead weight control is fundamental. Lightweight GRC panels have a density of 1.8-2.0g/cm³, a thickness of 10-15mm, and a dead weight of 0.3-0.4kN/m². In the Chimelong GRG ceiling project in Zhuhai, Qinglong Group optimized the mix ratio to control the dead weight of 12mm-thick panels at 0.35kN/m², reducing the burden on the main structure. Additional loads include air ducts, lighting fixtures, etc., with a design value of ≥0.3kN/m². The load-bearing capacity of the connection system is critical: hanger rods must have a pull-out resistance of ≥1.0kN with spacing ≤600mm. These designs ensure ceiling stability.
Seismic design must not be overlooked. The ceiling system needs to accommodate an inter-story drift ratio of 1/300. In a Shenzhen project, Qinglong Group adopted flexible connectors allowing ±15mm of displacement to prevent earthquake damage. Fire protection requirements are also important: Class A non-combustible material with a fire resistance rating of ≥1 hour. Through scientific calculation and rigorous construction, GRC ceilings are both safe and aesthetically pleasing.
