What Are the Differences in Application Scenarios for GRC Boards of Different Thicknesses? — A Technical Guide to Thickness Selection and Performance Matching

The selection of applicable scenarios for GRC panels of different thicknesses must be scientifically determined based on load requirements, modeling complexity, and the service environment—this is the key to balancing economy and functionality. Based on 28 years of project data, Qinglong Group divides GRC panel thicknesses into three tiers: 10-15mm (interior decoration), 15-20mm (exterior curtain walls), and 20-25mm (load-bearing components), each corresponding to different application scenarios. Through precise thickness design, an optimized configuration of safety, aesthetics, and cost is achieved.

Thin panels (10-15mm) are suitable for interior decoration. They are lightweight (0.2-0.3kN/m²) and flexible in shaping. For the interior ceilings of Huawei's Songshan Lake Terminal project, Qinglong Group used 12mm thick GRC panels with flexural strength ≥15MPa, meeting both aesthetic and lightweight requirements. Medium-thick panels (15-20mm) are used for exterior curtain walls with wind pressure resistance ≥3.0kPa. On the roof of the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center, 20mm thick panels have withstood typhoons with no damage after 5 years of use. Thick panels (20-25mm) are used for structural parts such as stair treads, with compressive strength ≥40MPa. Scientific thickness selection maximizes the value of GRC.
