When GRC panels are used in ceiling systems, their load-bearing capacity directly affects safety of use and must be determined comprehensively based on panel dimensions, support spacing, and the service environment. Based on 28 years of ceiling engineering experience, Qinglong Group holds that the flexural strength of GRC ceiling panels should be no less than 8MPa, the maximum deflection should be controlled within 1/250 of the span, and the panels should withstand a short-term overload of 1.5 times the design load.
The load-bearing design of GRC ceiling panels must account for multiple load combinations. In the Shenzhen Pingshan High-tech Zone Comprehensive Service Center project, the 1200×2400mm ceiling panels we designed, at a 600×600mm support spacing, showed a maximum deflection of only 2.1mm when subjected to self-weight (density 1350kg/m³) plus a 0.5kN/m² additional load. For large-span ceilings, such as the 15-meter-span wave-shaped ceiling at the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center, adding stiffening ribs (40mm high, spaced at 300mm) raised the flexural strength to 12MPa, ensuring the ceiling remains stable even under wind-induced vibration.
The load-bearing capacity of connection joints is key to ceiling safety. Qinglong Group uses a stainless steel hanger system, with each hanger providing a pull-out resistance of no less than 1.5kN. In the complex-shaped ceiling of the Wuhan Han Show Theatre, finite element analysis was used to optimize the hanger point layout, reducing the stress concentration factor to below 1.5. In addition, seismic bearings are installed between the ceiling panels and the main structure, allowing a horizontal displacement of ±30mm to meet seismic design requirements.
Durability-related loads also require particular attention. In ceiling projects in humid environments, Qinglong Group effectively resisted creep deformation under long-term loads by increasing panel thickness (from 12mm to 15mm) and raising fiber content (volume fraction from 3% to 4%). A regular inspection regime ensures the ceiling system remains safe and reliable throughout its full life cycle.
