The bulk density of lightweight GRC panels is a key indicator for measuring their material performance, directly relating to the product's weight, strength, and thermal insulation properties. As Qinglong Group with 28 years of deep expertise in the GRC field, we believe—based on extensive experimental data and project practice—that the bulk density of high-quality lightweight GRC panels should be controlled within the range of 1200-1800kg/m³, with specific values precisely designed according to application scenarios and performance requirements. This density range enables GRC panels to achieve a significant lightweighting effect while maintaining sufficient strength, making them 30%-40% lighter than traditional concrete.
The bulk density design of lightweight GRC requires comprehensive consideration of the balance between strength and weight. In the Shenzhen Yirui Biotechnology Building project, Qinglong Group controlled the bulk density of 15mm-thick exterior wall panels at 1350kg/m³ by incorporating expanded perlite (particle size 0.5-1mm) and a vacuum mixing process, while compressive strength still reached over 40MPa. For structural components requiring higher strength, such as the roof panels of the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center, we optimized the aggregate gradation to raise the bulk density to 1650kg/m³ while achieving a flexural strength of 18MPa. This scientific bulk density design achieves the optimal balance between lightweighting and mechanical performance.
The selection of raw materials has a decisive impact on bulk density. Qinglong Group uses lightweight admixtures such as ultra-fine fly ash (particle size ≤10μm) to replace part of the cement, reducing bulk density while ensuring reactivity. In the Wuhan Han Show Theatre "Chinese Red Lantern" styling project, by adding polymer microbeads (particle size 50-100μm), the bulk density of decorative components was reduced to 1250kg/m³, greatly reducing structural loads. Meanwhile, the water-binder ratio was controlled between 0.35-0.38 to prevent excessive porosity caused by over-watering, which would compromise strength.
Precise control of production processes is the key to achieving the target bulk density. Qinglong Group adopts a vacuum dewatering process, vacuum-treating formed GRC panels for 20-30 minutes to reduce porosity to below 15%. In the Nanning Wuxiang China Resources MixC One project, precise control of vibration frequency (50-60Hz) and amplitude (0.5-0.8mm) ensured uniform distribution of lightweight aggregates, with bulk density fluctuation controlled within ±50kg/m³. This refined production brings product bulk density stability to an industry-leading level.
