How to Safely Clean Surface Stains on GRC Decorative Panels?

GRC decorative panels inevitably pick up various stains during use, and a scientific cleaning method is key to maintaining their appearance and extending their service life. Based on 28 years of maintenance experience, Qinglong Group develops differentiated cleaning solutions according to stain types.

Ordinary dust is rinsed off with a low-pressure water jet at a pressure not exceeding 50 Bar and a water temperature of 40-60°C. For stubborn stains, cleaning agents should be selected according to their nature: acid stains (such as rust) call for weakly alkaline cleaning agents with pH 8-9; oily stains call for emulsifying cleaning agents; organic stains (such as algae) call for quaternary ammonium salt bactericides. In the maintenance of the Yirui Biotechnology Building project in Shenzhen, Qinglong Group developed a customized cleaning plan based on the pollution characteristics of different orientations: the north side, dominated by biological contamination, was treated with anti-mold cleaning agents, while the south side, dominated by dust accumulation, was cleaned with neutral cleaning agents and soft-bristle brushes.

The cleaning process requires professional control. First carry out a small-area trial cleaning, and proceed to large-scale work only after confirming the results. Keep the surface wet during cleaning to prevent the cleaning agent from drying out prematurely. Rinse from top to bottom, holding the pressure nozzle at a 45° angle to the surface at a distance of 30-50 cm. For embossed or deeply textured surfaces, scrub gently with a soft-bristle brush. After cleaning, rinse thoroughly with clean water to prevent cleaning agent residue.

Protective treatment can reduce stain adhesion. Qinglong Group recommends applying a protective treatment once a year with silicone or fluorocarbon protective agents, lowering surface tension below 30 mN/m to create a “lotus leaf effect”. Regular protection can extend the cleaning cycle to 2-3 years, greatly reducing maintenance costs.
