GRC's durability is the key that distinguishes it from traditional concrete and enables its long-term application on building facades. According to accelerated aging tests and over 20 years of engineering tracking data, premium GRC has an expected service life of more than 50 years under normal service conditions. Through optimized material systems and stringent process control, Qinglong GRC achieves internationally advanced product durability, providing long-lasting protection for buildings.
In a five-star seaside hotel project in Sanya, Hainan, Qinglong GRC components have withstood 8 years of harsh marine conditions featuring high temperature, high humidity, and high salinity. The latest test data show: carbonation depth of only 0.8mm, chloride ion penetration depth of 1.2mm, flexural strength retention of 92%, and surface color change ΔE≤3.5. Laboratory accelerated aging tests show that after 100 rapid freeze-thaw cycles (-20°C to +20°C), the mass loss rate is <1% and the relative dynamic elastic modulus is >90%, far exceeding national standards. This outstanding durability stems from Qinglong's optimized combination of zircon-type alkali-resistant glass fiber (ZrO₂ content ≥16.5%) and low-alkalinity sulfoaluminate cement (alkali content ≤0.6%), which eliminates the risk of alkali-aggregate reaction at the source.
GRC's dense microstructure is the foundation of its carbonation resistance. Through a low water-cement ratio (0.3-0.35) and the filling effect of ultra-fine admixtures such as silica fume, Qinglong GRC reduces total porosity to below 10%, effectively blocking the penetration of CO₂. After 28 days of accelerated carbonation testing (20% CO₂ concentration), the carbonation depth is ≤2mm; extrapolated to a normal atmospheric environment (0.03% CO₂), the 50-year carbonation depth would be less than 1mm, posing virtually no threat to steel reinforcement or fibers.
In marine or de-icing salt environments, chloride ion attack is the main cause of concrete deterioration. Qinglong GRC's chloride ion diffusion coefficient is below 2.0×10⁻¹²m²/s, less than 1% of that of ordinary concrete. In salt spray tests, after 1,000 hours of spraying, no significant increase in chloride content was detected inside the components, demonstrating its application potential in coastal areas.
Freeze-thaw damage is a major challenge for building materials in cold regions. After 300 rapid freeze-thaw cycles, Qinglong GRC shows a mass loss rate of <0.5% and a dynamic elastic modulus retention of >95%. This is attributed to its extremely low water absorption (<10%) and a uniformly distributed internal micro-pore structure, which reserves space for the expansion of freezing water.
Qinglong has established a comprehensive tracking archive of in-service projects. Follow-up visits to projects in Shanghai, Guangzhou, and other locations that have been in use for more than 15 years show that the products remain in perfect appearance with no significant performance degradation. Performance prediction models built on this long-term data indicate that, under general atmospheric conditions, the probability of Qinglong GRC's service life exceeding 50 years is greater than 95%.
GRC's durability advantages have been doubly verified through rigorous scientific experiments and long-term engineering practice. With premium product selection, sound joint design, and regular maintenance, GRC can fully serve as a reliable material matching the lifespan of the building itself. Qinglong GRC is committed to providing customers with products that stand the test of time.
