The maximum single-panel area of UHPC stone-imitating large panels is not a fixed value, but a comprehensive indicator constrained by multiple factors including "material performance, production processes, demolding and hoisting, and transportation and installation." Based on extensive engineering practice, and without adopting splicing technology, Qinglong Group can currently achieve a maximum single-panel area of 10-12 square meters for UHPC stone-imitating curtain wall panels in a stable manner. For example, in the Shanghai Century Plaza project, we successfully produced and installed UHPC imitation panels with a single-panel area of up to 12 square meters. With reasonable joint design or reinforcement with rear-mounted steel frames, larger areas could theoretically be attempted, but this would require rigorous structural verification and feasibility assessment.
The mechanical properties of the material itself are the fundamental limitation. Although UHPC has extremely high flexural strength (typically 20-30MPa), as a panel component, its deflection under large spans is the key controlling factor. The larger the area, the more pronounced the bending deformation caused by the panel's self-weight and wind loads, which may affect surface flatness and the safety of connection joints. Qinglong improves the stiffness of large panels and suppresses deformation by optimizing the dosage and distribution of steel fibers and appropriately increasing panel thickness (e.g., from 20mm to 25-30mm).
Production processes and logistics conditions are the practical constraints. The dimensional accuracy and stability of molds, as well as the available size of curing kilns, directly determine the maximum size of panels that can be produced. The large curing kilns at Qinglong's Nanning base can meet the curing needs of components over 6 meters in length. However, larger panels mean heavier weight (a 20mm-thick panel weighs about 50kg per square meter), which places extremely high demands on the equipment and methods for demolding, in-plant transfer, loading, and on-site hoisting. Qinglong designs dedicated lifting holes and rear-mounted steel frames for oversized panels to ensure safety. Meanwhile, regulations on the width and height limits of transport vehicles must also be considered. Therefore, determining the maximum single-panel area is an optimization process that requires techno-economic comparison across the entire chain of design, production, and construction.
