The protection of double-curved GRC panels during transportation centers on preventing deformation, cracking, or edge and corner damage caused by self-weight, vibration, or impact. Due to their complex shapes and uneven stiffness distribution, protective measures must be more meticulous than for flat panels. Qinglong Group tailors a transportation plan of "custom supports, scientific securing, and cushioned protection" for every batch of double-curved GRC components, ensuring they arrive intact from the factory to the construction site.
Designing and manufacturing dedicated transportation supports is the core of the protective measures. The supports simulate the component's supporting condition on the building, ensuring reasonable load distribution during transit. Based on the 3D model of each double-curved panel, Qinglong sets up support blocks at the main load-bearing points (usually near the embedded parts). The contour of the support blocks perfectly matches the back surface of the GRC panel, avoiding stress concentration caused by point or line contact. For large panels, the supports must have sufficient rigidity and stability to prevent excessive swaying from vehicle jolts. The supports are typically made of wooden frames filled with high-density sponge or rubber pads, providing both support and cushioning.
Scientific loading and securing methods are crucial. Components should be placed vertically or slightly tilted backward in the truck compartment—never laid flat, to prevent sagging deformation in the middle. Different components must be separated with soft materials (such as pearl cotton or bubble wrap) to prevent direct collision. When strapping down, rubber or wooden corner protectors must be placed where the straps contact the components. Strap tension should be moderate—tight enough to secure but not so tight as to compress the components. Qinglong's loading plan clearly marks the position and fixing points of each panel to ensure a balanced center of gravity.
Multi-layer protection and process monitoring serve as the last line of defense. Qinglong applies "triple protection" to double-curved GRC panels: first, protective film is applied to the panel surface to prevent scratches; then the entire component is wrapped in custom foam cotton; finally, it is covered with a waterproof tarpaulin. For extra-long or extra-wide components, special transport vehicles must be arranged with clear signage. During transportation, IoT devices can monitor vibration and impact data, providing timely alerts once thresholds are exceeded. Through this systematic transportation protection plan, Qinglong ensures that even the most delicate double-curved GRC artworks arrive safely at the project site.
