How to Steam Cure GRC Components in Low-Temperature Environments?

Steam curing of GRC components in low-temperature environments requires special control of the heating rate, constant temperature, and cooling rate to prevent cracking caused by thermal stress. Qinglong Group has developed a complete low-temperature steam curing technical system through projects in northern regions. In the Harbin Grand Theatre project, we ensured the curing quality of GRC components in a -10℃ environment through precise temperature control curves and strict process control.

The establishment of a curing regime must be scientific and rational. In low-temperature environments, steam curing of GRC components should appropriately reduce the heating rate and extend the constant temperature duration. Qinglong recommends the following low-temperature curing regime: slowly heat to 40-50℃ at a rate not exceeding 10℃/hour, maintain constant temperature curing for 24-36 hours, then slowly cool down at a rate not exceeding 15℃/hour. This gentle curing regime avoids the risk of cracking caused by excessive temperature gradients and ensures curing quality.

The performance of curing facilities directly affects curing results. In low-temperature environments, the thermal insulation performance of the curing kiln is particularly important, and a uniform and stable temperature must be ensured. Qinglong's curing kilns adopt a double-layer insulation structure and are equipped with advanced temperature and humidity control systems, enabling precise control of the curing environment. Multiple temperature monitoring points are also set up to track the temperature distribution inside the kiln in real time, ensuring that every component is under ideal curing conditions.

Component condition monitoring is key to curing quality control. During the curing process, embedded temperature sensors monitor internal temperature changes in the components to track actual curing conditions. Meanwhile, companion cured specimens are made and strength development is tested periodically, providing a basis for adjusting the curing regime. In the Shenyang Culture and Art Center project, this real-time monitoring approach ensured precise control of the curing process.

Post-curing treatment is equally important. After leaving the kiln, components need to be cooled slowly to avoid thermal stress caused by sudden exposure to low-temperature environments. Qinglong has established a comprehensive post-curing treatment system, including gradual temperature reduction and surface protection measures, to ensure stable component performance. Through refined control of the entire process, steam curing of GRC components in low-temperature environments can achieve ideal results.
