Wind pressure deformation performance testing of GRC curtain walls is a critical step in ensuring their safety, requiring a combined approach of laboratory testing and on-site verification. Based on the requirements of the JGJ/T423-2018 standard, Qinglong Group has established a complete testing system comprising three levels: material performance testing, component wind pressure resistance testing, and on-site air tightness verification. In the Shenzhen Pingshan High-tech Zone Comprehensive Service Center project, we verified through wind tunnel tests and full-scale model testing that the GRC curtain wall system can withstand a design wind pressure value of 1.5kPa, with deformation controlled within the L/250 range.
Material performance testing is the foundation. First, mechanical property tests must be conducted on the GRC substrate, covering indicators such as bending strength, impact strength, and elastic modulus. Qinglong's testing center is equipped with a 1000kN universal testing machine capable of accurately determining the stress-strain curve of materials. Accelerated aging tests are also carried out to simulate performance changes under long-term wind vibration. These data provide accurate input parameters for structural calculations, ensuring design reliability.
Component-level wind pressure resistance testing is the core step. Qinglong conducts full-scale model tests on large testing platforms, with specimen dimensions typically no less than 4m×4m, including complete support systems and connection nodes. The tests use the air pressure chamber method, gradually applying positive and negative wind pressures while measuring panel deflection and connection point stress. According to standard requirements, repeated pressurization tests must be performed to verify the system's fatigue performance. In the testing of the double-curved curtain wall at the Nanning New Media Center, we simulated wind pressure conditions with a 50-year recurrence interval to ensure system safety.
On-site verification is a necessary supplement. After curtain wall installation is complete, air tightness and water tightness tests must be conducted to verify the overall performance of the system. Qinglong employs testing methods specified by national standards, examining the curtain wall's performance under simulated wind and rain conditions. At the same time, equipment such as laser rangefinders is used to measure the actual deformation under wind loads. These on-site data corroborate the laboratory results, forming a complete performance verification chain.
Qinglong Group recommends establishing a wind pressure deformation performance database for GRC curtain walls, recording test data under different panel types and support conditions. These data not only provide the basis for specific projects but also accumulate valuable material for the industry's technical development. Through scientific testing and verification, the wind pressure deformation performance of GRC curtain walls can be accurately assessed, ensuring their safe use in various wind environments.
