The integrated construction of GRC curtain walls and thermal insulation systems is a key technology for achieving the perfect combination of building energy efficiency and decoration. Its core lies in solving problems such as coordinated performance between different materials, thermal bridge control, and coordination of construction sequences. In the Shenzhen Pingshan High-tech Zone Comprehensive Service Center project, Qinglong Group innovatively adopted a GRC decorative insulation integrated panel system, factory-compositing a 20mm thick GRC decorative surface layer with an 80mm thick rock wool insulation layer, achieving the integration of decoration, insulation, and waterproofing functions and greatly improving construction efficiency and quality. Testing showed that the system achieved a heat transfer coefficient of 0.45W/(m²·K), far below the national standard requirement.
Thermal bridge control in the connection system is the primary key technology of integrated construction. The special connectors developed by Qinglong are made of stainless steel with low thermal conductivity, and through a thermal-break design, the heat transfer path of the metal connectors is effectively blocked. In the Nanning Wuxiang China Resources MixC One project, we determined the reasonable spacing of connectors through thermal calculations, keeping the linear heat transfer coefficient ψ value of the overall curtain wall system below 0.05W/(m·K). At the same time, spacer blocks with low thermal conductivity are set on the inner side of the outer leaf panels to further reduce thermal bridge effects.
Moisture-proof and waterproof construction ensures long-term system performance. In the integrated panel system, Qinglong installed a complete moisture-proof and waterproof layer system, including a sealant waterproofing layer at panel joints, a waterproof and breathable membrane on the outer side of the insulation layer, and a vapor barrier on the inner side. This multi-layer protection system both prevents rainwater penetration and ensures the smooth discharge of water vapor from within the insulation layer. In projects in Hainan's hot and humid regions, sealing at panel edges was also specially reinforced to ensure the reliability of the waterproofing system.
Proper organization of construction sequences directly affects project quality. Qinglong has established a standardized construction process for the integrated system: first installing the connectors on the main structure, then hoisting the integrated panels, and finally sealing the panel joints. In the Wuhan Han Show Theater project, we used BIM technology for construction simulation, optimizing the hoisting sequence and process coordination, raising the average installation speed to 50 square meters per worker-day. All construction personnel are specially trained to master the installation essentials and quality requirements of the integrated system.
Qinglong Group recommends establishing a regular inspection system for GRC insulation integrated systems, using infrared thermal imaging cameras for annual inspections to promptly identify and address localized thermal bridge issues. At the same time, a maintenance archive should be established to record performance changes during service, providing data support for long-term system optimization. Through scientific design, meticulous construction, and comprehensive maintenance, the integrated solution of GRC curtain wall and insulation systems can provide buildings with long-lasting, reliable energy-saving performance and aesthetic appeal.
