What Are the Raw Materials of GRC? Material Mix Ratio and Quality Control

The main raw materials of GRC fall into five categories: cementitious materials, reinforcing materials, aggregates, admixtures, and water, and a scientific mix ratio is key to ensuring GRC performance. Through 28 years of R&D accumulation, Qinglong Group has established a complete quality control system for GRC raw materials, with strict acceptance standards for every raw material. In the Wuhan Hanxiu Theater project, through precise mix ratio control, we achieved color consistency and long-term stability of the "China Red" GRC curtain wall, demonstrating the importance of raw material control.

Selection and Mix Ratio Optimization of Cementitious Materials

The cementitious materials in GRC are mainly sulfoaluminate cement or low-alkalinity cement; the low alkalinity of these cements effectively protects glass fibers. Through extensive testing, Qinglong determined the optimal cement dosage range (350-450kg/m³), controlling shrinkage while ensuring strength. For projects with special requirements, we also incorporate active supplementary materials such as silica fume and fly ash to further improve material performance.

Key Technical Parameters of Reinforcing Materials

Alkali-resistant glass fiber is the core reinforcing material of GRC, and its alkali resistance directly affects product service life. Qinglong strictly selects high-quality AR glass fiber with a zirconia content of ≥16%, with fiber length controlled at 12-36mm and dosage adjusted according to the structural load requirements of components (usually 3-5%). In the roofing project of the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center, we ensured the crack resistance of thin-walled components by optimizing fiber distribution.

Gradation Design of the Aggregate System

The aggregates in GRC are mainly quartz sand, and reasonable gradation improves bulk density. Qinglong adopts a multi-graded sand system, mixing coarse sand (0.6-1.2mm) and fine sand (0.1-0.3mm) in specific proportions to improve compactness while ensuring workability. For GRC requiring special effects, we also incorporate colored aggregates or functional aggregates to meet different design requirements.

Precise Control of Admixtures and Water

Admixtures can significantly improve GRC performance. Qinglong uses polycarboxylate water reducers to lower the water-binder ratio, incorporates shrinkage-reducing agents to control drying shrinkage, and adds thickeners, defoamers, and others as needed. Water must meet drinking water standards, with impurity content strictly controlled. Scientific mix design and strict raw material control ensure the outstanding quality of Qinglong GRC products.
