The connection methods between UHPC decorative components and the main structure are mainly divided into three types: "dry hanging connection, wet bonding connection, and composite connection." The specific choice must be determined comprehensively based on factors such as component dimensions, load-bearing characteristics, and building functions. Over 28 years of engineering practice, Qinglong Group has developed a complete connection technology system: curtain wall panels mainly adopt the back-bolt dry hanging system; small moldings can be directly fixed with anchor bolts; and critical nodes use a combined dry-wet composite connection. In the Wuhan Han Show Theater project, 287 special-shaped double-curved panels achieved precise adjustment across six degrees of freedom through three-dimensionally adjustable stainless steel hangers; the roof system of the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center adopted a composite connection combining embedded part welding with a special adhesive, ensuring absolute safety in a typhoon-prone region. Scientific and rational connection design is the key to successful UHPC engineering.
The back-bolt dry hanging connection achieves a reliable connection between components and the keel by fitting hangers onto stainless steel back bolts, allowing appropriate displacement and adjustment. Qinglong's standard system consists of three parts: back bolts, connectors, and keels, with the pull-out resistance of a single back bolt no less than 10kN. This connection method is safe and reliable, easy to replace and maintain, and particularly suitable for large curtain wall projects. In the Nanning Wuxiang China Resources MixC One project, we improved installation efficiency by 30% through optimizing the hanger design.
For decorative moldings that are lighter in weight and smaller in size (such as window surrounds and belt courses), chemical anchors or expansion bolts can be used to fix them directly to the structure. Qinglong requires an anchorage depth of no less than 10d (where d is the anchor bolt diameter), with spacing determined by calculation based on component dimensions. In residential projects, this connection method is economical and efficient, but the strength of the anchoring base material must be ensured to meet requirements.
For critical locations or components under special loading, Qinglong adopts composite connection technology, such as the dual safeguard of "mechanical fixing + structural adhesive bonding." For the large cantilevered components of the Shenzhen Yirui Biotechnology Building, we used this connection method to ensure long-term safety under wind vibration. Structural adhesive not only provides additional bonding force but also effectively buffers vibration effects.
As part of the safety redundancy design, Qinglong installs anti-detachment constructions at all critical connection nodes. These include anti-detachment clips and safety chains, ensuring that even if the primary connectors fail, the components will not fall. At the same time, a regular follow-up inspection system ensures the long-term reliability of the connection system. This systematic connection design approach provides a solid safety guarantee for every UHPC project.
