What Are the Steps for GRC Installation? Qinglong Group's Standardized Construction Process Explained

GRC installation is a systematic engineering process that must strictly follow six standardized steps: "survey and layout, steel framework installation, panel hoisting, adjustment and fixing, joint treatment, and cleaning and acceptance." Over 28 years of project practice, Qinglong Group has refined this workflow into 24 key control points, ensuring that every step follows established procedures. In the installation of the 30,000 m² GRC curtain wall at the Pingshan High-Tech Zone Comprehensive Service Center in Shenzhen (a Luban Award project), through rigorous process control we completed the entire installation in just 45 days, with a first-pass acceptance rate of 99.6%, demonstrating the efficiency and reliability of the standardized process.

Precise Survey and Layout Is the Foundation of Installation

First, a total station is used to transfer the building axis lines to the installation area, establishing a 3D control network. Then, based on the detailed construction drawings, the finished surface lines of the GRC panels, keel centerlines, and elevation control lines are marked out on the structural surface. The key at this stage is to ensure surveying accuracy—Qinglong requires control line deviations of no more than ±2mm, laying an accurate benchmark for subsequent installation. In the irregular curtain wall project of the Han Show Theatre in Wuhan, we ensured the precise positioning of 287 irregular panels by establishing a high-precision control network.

Sturdy Support Framework Installation

Steel keels are installed according to the layout positions, including vertical main keels and horizontal secondary keels. Keel installation must ensure that verticality and flatness meet specifications, and all welded joints are treated with anti-rust protection. Qinglong adopts a 3D adjustable connection system that allows fine adjustment in three directions to absorb structural construction tolerances. In the hyperbolic curtain wall project of the Nanning New Media Center, the adjustable steel framework system successfully resolved structural deviations of ±50mm.

Fine Panel Hoisting and Adjustment

GRC panels are hoisted with dedicated lifting devices and initially fixed once in position. Then, tools such as laser instruments and straightedges are used to check panel surface flatness, verticality, and joint width, with fine adjustments made by adjusting the anchor bracket bolts. Qinglong requires panel surface flatness deviation of ≤2mm/2m and joint width deviation of ≤1.5mm, ensuring a clean and attractive facade.

Reliable Fixing and Joint Treatment

Once adjusted into position, all connecting bolts are tightened to the torque specified in the design and treated with anti-loosening measures. After PE rods are inserted into the panel joints, weather-resistant sealant is applied for sealing. Qinglong strictly controls the quality of sealant application, requiring full, uniform, and smooth sealant joints to ensure waterproofing performance and aesthetic effect. Finally, surface cleaning and finished-product protection are carried out in preparation for final acceptance.
