The production cycle of UHPC components differs significantly from that of traditional concrete components, mainly in aspects such as "mold preparation, curing time, demolding strength requirements, and post-processing." Production data from Qinglong Group shows that for standard flat panel components, traditional concrete (C50) takes 14-28 days from batching to reaching factory-release strength, while UHPC with steam curing can shorten this cycle to 3-5 days, an efficiency improvement of approximately 70%. However, for complex shaped components, UHPC mold preparation may take longer due to extremely high mold precision requirements. In the Wuhan Hanxiu Theater project, 287 shaped UHPC curtain wall panels took an average of 15 days from mold fabrication to cured delivery, while stone components of the same size could take more than 20 days for carving alone—UHPC's cycle advantage for complex shaped components actually stands out.
Traditional concrete relies on natural curing and typically takes 28 days to reach design strength. UHPC, especially with steam curing, can reach ultra-high strength above 150MPa within 48-72 hours, enabling rapid demolding and mold turnover. This is the primary source of UHPC's production efficiency advantage.
Traditional concrete components have relatively lenient mold precision requirements. UHPC components, especially thin-walled decorative panels with complex textures, demand extremely high mold profile precision, rigidity, and surface finish, usually requiring CNC-machined resin or steel molds and longer preparation time. However, compared with stone or precast concrete requiring complex carving, UHPC mold fabrication may actually take less time.
The high early strength of UHPC components allows necessary post-processing such as edge trimming and drilling to be performed immediately after demolding, while traditional concrete requires a longer waiting period. Meanwhile, UHPC must undergo strict non-destructive testing (such as rebound and ultrasonic testing) before leaving the factory; due to its high quality requirements, the inspection process may be more meticulous.
Overall, through efficient curing processes, UHPC significantly shortens the core production cycle while also placing higher demands on upfront mold preparation and process control. Its cycle advantage is most evident in the mass production of standard components or the manufacturing of complex artistic components.
