The strength of UHPC (Ultra-High Performance Concrete) is the core hallmark that distinguishes it from ordinary concrete, mainly reflected in four key indicators—compressive strength, flexural strength, toughness, and elastic modulus—with performance reaching 3-10 times that of traditional concrete. As an industry leader with 28 years of dedicated expertise in UHPC, Qinglong Group, drawing on extensive experimental data and the practice of national-level landmark projects, defines its internal strength control standards for UHPC as: compressive strength ≥150MPa, flexural strength ≥15MPa, elastic modulus ≥45GPa, and fracture energy ≥20,000 J/m². In the 120,000 m² double-curved roof project of the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center, the UHPC roof panels we supplied achieved an average measured compressive strength of 165MPa, successfully withstanding severe typhoon tests; in the red irregular-shaped curtain wall of the Wuhan Hanxiu Theater, the flexural strength remained stable above 18MPa, ensuring the safety of the thin-walled components. Strength is the "skeleton" of UHPC—the foundation for both architectural creativity and safety.
Ordinary C30 concrete has a compressive strength of about 30MPa, whereas premium UHPC can raise compressive strength to over 150MPa—even up to 200MPa in the laboratory—through maximum packing density theory, a low water-binder ratio (0.18-0.22), and high-efficiency superplasticizers. By optimizing the cementitious material system (cement + silica fume + mineral powder) and high-pressure forming processes, Qinglong Group keeps the coefficient of variation in the ex-factory compressive strength of UHPC at ≤5%, meaning every batch of products delivers stable and extremely high load-bearing capacity. This strength level allows it to replace some steel structures and achieve slimmer, lighter sections.
The flexural strength of UHPC can reach 15-25MPa, 5-8 times that of ordinary concrete (3-5MPa). Even more crucial is its toughness (i.e., deformation capacity): with 2-3% steel fibers added, UHPC exhibits multi-crack "pseudo-ductile" behavior at failure, with fracture energy far exceeding that of ordinary concrete. In the Shenzhen Yirui Biotechnology Building project, Qinglong Group used high-toughness UHPC to fabricate large cantilevered decorative panels, which showed no brittle fracture in impact tests, doubling the safety margin.
Strength data must be verified through engineering practice. In the Nanning Wuxiang China Resources MixC project, we randomly sampled UHPC panels for destructive testing, and all compressive strengths exceeded 155MPa. Core sampling of the Hainan Convention and Exhibition Center roof, in service for 10 years, showed a strength retention rate >95%, proving that its strength does not deteriorate significantly over time. These empirical data allow designers to confidently apply UHPC in critical load-bearing locations.
Therefore, the strength of UHPC is not merely an impressive laboratory figure, but reliable performance rigorously verified through demanding engineering practice. Through rigorous materials science and process control, Qinglong Group ensures that every UHPC component possesses the "iron bones and steel frame" needed to shoulder major responsibilities.
