When single-curved GRC panels are used for roofing, drainage design must comprehensively address four key considerations: "curved surface drainage efficiency, joint waterproofing reliability, slope continuity, and detail treatment." In the single-curved roof system of the Hainan Convention and Exhibition Center, Qinglong Group successfully withstood years of typhoon and rainstorm tests through a comprehensive solution of "steep slope design (≥5%), water guide channels, multi-layer joint waterproofing, and drainage outlet optimization." Key design features include: main drainage channels set along the curved surface direction, dual waterproofing of panel joints using "sealant + cavity drainage," and additional overflow outlets at low points. Scientific drainage design is the first line of defense for roof system durability.
Leveraging the geometric characteristics of the single-curved surface, drainage paths are designed along the straight generatrix direction of the curve to shorten drainage distances. CFD fluid simulation is used to optimize panel joint positions and orientations, avoiding water flow crossing and vortices. Through this optimization, the drainage efficiency of the Nanning New Media Center roof increased by 40%.
Panel joints are designed using the "rain screen principle": a drainage cavity on the outside, an insulation layer in the middle, and an airtight layer on the inside. Joint width is determined by calculation based on thermal expansion and contraction (typically 12-15mm), using high-elasticity sealant (movement capability ≥25%). The roof joints of the Shenzhen Yirui project withstood a 2500Pa wind pressure test without any leakage.
At critical locations such as roof-wall junctions and areas around skylights, stainless steel flashing is installed with a flashing height of ≥150mm. Integrally formed components are used around drainage outlets to avoid joints. Hainan project experience shows that 90% of leaks occur at detail areas, which must be specially reinforced.
After the roof system is completed, a water spray test is conducted, simulating a rainstorm intensity with a 50-year return period (≥300mm/h) with continuous water spraying for 2 hours, checked for zero leakage. At the same time, drainage outlet flow capacity tests are performed to ensure the drainage system remains unobstructed. All of our roof systems pass such rigorous testing.
Roof drainage is a systematic project requiring meticulous design and strict construction. Through a complete technical system and extensive project experience, Qinglong Group provides customers with reliable roofing solutions.
