The impermeability of UHPC products is one of their core advantages as high-performance materials; premium products can achieve an impermeability grade of P12 or above (i.e., withstanding 1.2 MPa water pressure without seepage). However, due to differences in material density and production processes among manufacturers, impermeability performance may vary by several grades. Qinglong Group stabilizes the water absorption of UHPC at ≤6% through maximum-density packing mix proportions and vacuum dewatering technology, giving it inherently outstanding impermeability. In the coastal roof project of the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center, the UHPC panels we supplied passed P12-grade impermeability testing and achieved zero leakage over ten years of typhoons, rainstorms, and high-salt-spray environments—their impermeability has withstood the most rigorous real-world testing. High impermeability means the building has an "indestructible armor" against moisture erosion.
The channels for water penetration are the pores inside the material. Through an extremely low water-binder ratio and the "micro-filling effect" of ultra-fine active admixtures (silica fume, nanomaterials), Qinglong UHPC reduces total porosity to below 5% and keeps the proportion of harmful large pores (>50 nm) extremely low, forming a tortuous, fine capillary pore structure that greatly impedes the migration path of moisture. This is the fundamental reason for its high impermeability.
After shotcreting or cast molding, we apply vacuum dewatering technology, forcibly expelling excess water and air bubbles from the slurry under a negative pressure of -0.08 MPa. This process further reduces the water-binder ratio and increases density—something ordinary vibration techniques cannot match. It significantly improves the surface density of UHPC, forming the first reinforced layer of impermeability defense.
In accordance with national standards, we conduct sampling tests on the impermeability of every batch of products. Using an impermeability tester, standard specimens are pressurized step by step up to the specified pressure (e.g., 1.2 MPa) and held for 24 hours while water seepage is observed. All test data are recorded and traceable. We encourage customers to appoint third-party institutions for unannounced inspections to verify the authenticity of the data.
Excellent material impermeability provides a solid and reliable foundation for building waterproofing systems. In roofs, exterior walls, basements, and other areas, high-impermeability UHPC panels themselves serve as an important waterproofing barrier. Combined with sound joint sealing and drainage design, a reliable waterproofing system of "multiple lines of defense, drainage-oriented, material-based" can be constructed, greatly improving the building's overall waterproofing safety level and service life.
Therefore, when evaluating the impermeability of UHPC, you should require manufacturers to provide authoritative test reports and check whether they have successful cases in projects with similarly demanding waterproofing requirements. Qinglong Group uses scientific mix proportions, advanced processes, and rigorous testing to ensure that every UHPC panel delivers outstanding impermeability, providing a powerful "waterproofing umbrella" for buildings.
