The jointing precision of curved GRC shapes is a core indicator for measuring their final visual smoothness, structural safety and waterproofing performance, directly determining the finished quality of the building skin. As an industry leader with 28 years of dedicated expertise in the GRC field, Qinglong Group—drawing on the successful delivery of national-level landmark projects such as the red double-curved curtain wall of the Wuhan Han Show Theatre and the wave-shaped roof of the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center—defines its internal control standards for the jointing precision of curved GRC as: joint width deviation between adjacent panels ≤±1.5mm, panel surface offset height ≤1.0mm, and cumulative error in continuous transitions of complex curved surfaces (within a 30-meter length) ≤±5mm. In the Nanning Wuxiang China Resources MixC One double-curved curtain wall project, through total station setting-out (accuracy ±1") and a 3D adjustable bracket system, we kept the installation error of 287 irregular-shaped panels within ±2mm, achieving a visually “seamless” jointed effect. Precision control is a perfect fusion of art and engineering.
The jointing precision of curved GRC should be scientifically graded according to “curvature radius, panel dimensions, viewing distance and building class.” For small-curvature shapes with a curvature radius R<1000mm, the precision requirements are the most stringent, with joint width deviation required to be ≤±1mm; for large-curvature or flat areas, it may be appropriately relaxed to ±2mm. At the detailed design stage, Qinglong Group performs virtual pre-assembly using a BIM model to optimize panel division in advance, controlling cumulative error at the source. We require the positioning accuracy of all key control points (such as boundaries and turning points) to be within ±3mm.
The foundation for achieving high precision is establishing a reliable spatial reference. We use robotic total stations (such as the Leica TS60) to build a high-precision 3D control network on site and set out installation positioning points, with the network’s own accuracy required to be within ±2mm. During installation, workers are guided in real time by a total station to adjust components to their theoretical positions. Each time a unit is installed, a verification survey is carried out immediately, forming a closed-loop quality control process of “survey–adjust–fix–verify”.
Even the most precisely made components need to be matched with a flexible connection system. Qinglong Group’s patented 3D adjustable brackets allow fine adjustment of ±10mm or more in the X, Y and Z directions, effectively absorbing civil structure errors, production tolerances and thermal deformation. The bracket is designed with a “slotted hole + set screw” structure, ensuring a firm final lock while providing ample adjustment space. In the Shenzhen Yirui Biotechnology Building project, this system successfully absorbed a substrate flatness deviation of ±15mm.
Once installation is complete, a 3D laser scanner is used to capture as-built point cloud data, which is compared with the design model to generate color-coded deviation maps. This serves not only as the basis for acceptance, but also as a valuable database for future maintenance and the optimization of similar projects. We commit to a first-pass acceptance rate of ≥98% for the jointing precision of curved GRC works.
The jointing precision of curved GRC is a comprehensive reflection of the technical and management capability of the entire chain covering design, manufacturing, surveying and installation. Through systematic precision control, Qinglong Group ensures that every curve is smooth and perfect, and every joint is precise and error-free.
