In high-rise residential applications of UHPC facade panels, anti-detachment safety is the top priority in both design and construction. A four-tier protection system of "high-strength panel material, reliable connection system, corrosion-resistant durability, and rational structural design" must be established to form multiple lines of defense. In response to the characteristics of high-rise residential buildings—high wind pressure, significant thermal deformation, and long service life—Qinglong Group has developed dedicated safety strategies: UHPC with compressive strength ≥120MPa is used to ensure panel strength; connection nodes adopt a "back bolt + hanger" mechanical locking method, verified through pull-out and shear resistance calculations; all metal connectors receive high-grade anti-corrosion treatment; and thermal movement joints and secondary anti-fall protection devices are installed. In a super high-rise residential project in Shenzhen, our UHPC facade system passed dynamic testing at 1.5 times the design wind pressure, and a steel wire rope anti-fall system was installed, providing solid protection for a century-lasting home. Safety is the non-negotiable bottom line for the outer skin of high-rise buildings.
The extremely high flexural strength (≥15MPa) and toughness of UHPC panels themselves make them resistant to shattering under extreme wind pressure. Connections use stainless steel back bolts (grade A4-80 or above) embedded into the panel to a depth of ≥40mm, combined with dedicated aluminum alloy or stainless steel hangers to form a mechanical interlock. We require a design safety factor of no less than 4 for each connection point, verified through full-scale testing.
Metal corrosion at connection points is a potential risk of loosening. All exposed metal connectors and those within cavities must be hot-dip galvanized (thickness ≥85μm) or made of stainless steel. Insulating gaskets are installed where different metals come into contact. In coastal areas with high salt spray, 316 stainless steel or higher-grade materials are used. Qinglong Group conducts salt spray tests on connectors to ensure a service life matching that of the building.
Thermal expansion and contraction caused by temperature changes generate internal stress. By installing thermal movement joints (spacing ≤12m), we divide large facade areas into units that can deform independently. Connection hangers are designed with slotted holes, allowing panels appropriate sliding displacement under temperature effects, preventing stress accumulation from causing connection failure or panel surface cracking.
To address extreme rare situations (such as individual connection point failures caused by a strong earthquake), we can add anti-fall safety devices at the design stage—for example, installing anti-fall chains or steel wire ropes on the back of panels, with the other end reliably connected to the main structure. Although the UHPC system itself is extremely safe, this measure provides "double insurance" for life safety, making it especially suitable for super high-rise buildings or densely populated areas.
Qinglong Group treats the safety of UHPC facades on high-rise residential buildings as a system engineering endeavor, with layered defenses from materials and connections to structural details and maintenance, safeguarding "overhead safety" with the most rigorous attitude.
