Using UHPC panels for roof waterproofing requires building a four-layer protection system of "material self-waterproofing, structural water drainage, joint reinforcement, and system maintenance," with the core lying in leveraging UHPC's low permeability (water absorption ≤6%) combined with rain screen principle design. Qinglong Group innovatively adopted a composite system of "UHPC panels + waterproof breathable membrane + insulation layer + structural deck" for the 120,000-square-meter wavy roof project at the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center, achieving zero leakage after 10 years of typhoons and rainstorms. Key solutions include: panel joints designed as pressure-relief joints (12-15mm wide) with built-in drainage channels; mechanically fixed stainless steel flashing strips at penetration points; and a siphonic drainage system at the roof eaves. The waterproofing performance of UHPC roofs stems from the synergy between materials and structural design.
UHPC's dense structure (porosity ≤5%) gives it inherent impermeability; panels as thin as 6mm can achieve a P12 waterproof rating. In the Yangshengtang Pharmaceutical Hangzhou Industrial Park project, we further reduced capillary pore size by adding silica fume (20%-25%), keeping the roof panels stable even in acidic and alkaline environments. A fluorocarbon topcoat applied to the surface reduces water retention and enhances self-cleaning.
Based on the pressure-equalization cavity principle, a 30mm-thick air cavity is set between the UHPC panels and the insulation layer, with drainage holes at the bottom (spacing ≤6m). Panel joints are backed with foam rods and then filled with silicone weatherproof sealant (movement capability ≥25%), forming a second waterproofing line. Qinglong's patented "tongue-and-groove lap" system effectively diverted 90% of rainwater on the roof of the Yirui Biotechnology Building in Shenzhen.
Penetration points such as skylights and vent pipes use prefabricated stainless steel waterproof sleeves, with 5mm movement joints left between them and the UHPC panels and filled with sealant. Parapet copings are designed with an inward slope, with flashing height ≥250mm. We produce detailed joint drawings for every project to ensure construction precision.
A roof inspection system (twice a year) is established, focusing on sealant joint aging and drainage hole blockages. Qinglong's maintenance team uses drone-mounted infrared thermal imaging cameras to quickly locate potential leakage points, enabling preventive maintenance. We commit to a 10-year warranty on the waterproofing system.
UHPC roof waterproofing is a complete system from materials to management. With practical experience from large-scale projects, Qinglong Group provides customers with reliable lifetime waterproofing solutions.
