Achieving a continuous, lifelike stone grain effect on the surface of large UHPC panels is a systematic project integrating "digital scanning, mold transfer, color control, and texture repair." For the Shenzhen Pingshan High-tech Zone Comprehensive Service Center (a Luban Award project), Qinglong Group obtained texture data of natural stone through high-precision digital scanning, adopted silicone mold negative transfer technology combined with a multi-color spraying process, and perfectly replicated the continuous texture of natural sandstone on UHPC panels each covering up to 8 square meters, with a color difference of ΔE≤2.0 and a fidelity of over 95%. The stone grain effect is not mere imitation, but a deep fusion of art and technology.
High-resolution 3D scanners are used to capture the surface geometry and color information of the target stone and generate digital models. Dedicated software optimizes and stitches the textures, ensuring natural transitions across large panels while avoiding repetition and monotony. Qinglong Group has established a stone texture database containing data on more than 200 precious stone varieties from around the world.
Highly elastic, highly faithful food-grade silicone rubber is used to make the transfer films, with a shrinkage rate of ≤0.1%, enabling precise replication of the stone's subtle surface undulations. The molds are numbered according to panel joint relationships to ensure natural texture alignment between adjacent panels. In the Nanning New Media Center project, we produced more than 300 sets of silicone molds, achieving a seamless stone grain connection across a 3,000-square-meter facade.
Robotic arms equipped with multiple sets of material tanks perform layered spraying of base colors and accent colors to simulate the mineral crystal distribution of stone. After demolding, processes such as hand finishing, acid etching, and polishing further enhance the realism of the texture. Qinglong Group's surface treatment technicians have all undergone long-term training and can precisely capture the "spirit" of different stones.
Making UHPC "grow" natural textures is the ultimate pursuit of material artistry. With profound technical expertise and artistic sensibility, Qinglong Group clothes buildings in one-of-a-kind stone garments.
