Mold precision for UHPC double-curved panels is the core technical indicator for ensuring accurate rendering of complex curved surfaces, directly determining the dimensional accuracy, surface flatness, and joint matching of the final product. As an industry leader with 28 years of deep expertise in the UHPC field, Qinglong Group—drawing on successful practices in national-level landmark projects such as the red double-curved facade of the Wuhan Han Show Theatre and the wave-shaped roof of the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center—defines the precision control standards for double-curved panel molds as: profile contour error ≤±0.5mm, surface flatness ≤0.3mm/m², and critical positioning dimensional tolerance ≤±0.2mm. In the Nanning Wuxiang China Resources MixC One double-curved facade project, we adopted central molds machined with five-axis CNC precision, combined with 3D laser scanning inspection technology, keeping the cumulative installation error of 287 double-curved panels of varied shapes within ±3mm and achieving a visually “seamless” splicing effect. Mold precision is not a single number; it is a comprehensive reflection of precise control across the entire process of design, manufacturing, and inspection.
Double-curved panel molds are typically made of high-strength tool steel or resin composite materials and milled on five-axis CNC machines. Qinglong Group has introduced German DMG five-axis machining centers with repeat positioning accuracy of up to ±0.01mm, capable of perfectly replicating the complex NURBS surfaces generated by software such as Rhino and Grasshopper. The stability of the mold base material is crucial; we prefer low-shrinkage epoxy resin or pre-hardened steel to ensure minimal thermal deformation during production.
After mold machining is completed, full-dimensional inspection must be performed using a 3D laser scanner to generate high-density point cloud data and compare it with the original 3D model. Qinglong Group's quality control center is equipped with Zeiss scanners with a scanning accuracy of ±0.02mm, ensuring that the error of every contoured surface stays within a controllable range. For extra-large molds, we adopt a segmented machining and on-site assembly process, using a total station to ensure overall accuracy after assembly.
High-precision molds must be matched with high-level production processes. Through robotic spray-up molding, vacuum dewatering, and intelligent curing kilns, Qinglong Group ensures that UHPC slurry uniformly fills the mold cavity, reducing dimensional deviations caused by process fluctuations. In the production of double-curved panels for the Shenzhen Yirui Biotechnology Building, we achieved outstanding results with a panel thickness tolerance of ±1mm and smooth curved surfaces free of joint marks.
Mold precision is the starting point of value for UHPC double-curved panels. By investing in top-tier equipment and establishing a strict quality control system, Qinglong Group ensures that every set of molds accurately reproduces the designer's vision, laying a solid foundation for project success.
