The curvature radius limit of UHPC single-curved panels depends on four factors: material flowability, mold precision, fiber distribution, and demolding technology. With current technology, the minimum radius can reach R=300mm (at a panel thickness of 15mm), and through special processes it can even be pushed to R=150mm. Qinglong Group successfully mass-produced double-curved panels with a curvature radius of R=350mm (panel thickness of 12mm) for the "Red Lantern" facade of the Wuhan Han Show Theatre, achieving smooth, crack-free curved surfaces; in an art center project in Shenzhen, by optimizing fiber orientation (using directional fiber placement technology) and a low-viscosity release agent, the minimum radius of single-curved panels was reduced to R=280mm. The curvature radius is a direct reflection of UHPC's plasticity—a small radius means high difficulty and high value.
A low water-binder ratio (0.18-0.22) ensures the slurry stays cohesive without sagging; the addition of viscosity-modifying agents guarantees curved-surface formability; fiber length should not be excessive (typically 12mm) to prevent exposure during bending. We use a rheometer to control workability, achieving a mix that "holds its shape and flows evenly."
Small-radius curved panels require molds machined on five-axis CNC equipment, with profile precision of ±0.1mm. Molds are made of steel or high-strength resin to guarantee no deformation through repeated use. The mold library at our Nanning base stocks over a hundred curvature modules.
Spray forming is adopted instead of casting, allowing fibers to distribute along the curved surface; curing time is extended before demolding (up to 36h) to improve early strength; dedicated vacuum suction lifting is used to avoid deformation. We hold patented construction methods for small-curvature panels.
Challenging the limits of curvature is a collision between technology and art. Qinglong Group makes the most dynamic curves blossom on UHPC.
