Cleaning the surface of GRC requires a targeted plan based on four key factors—"pollution type, severity, surface treatment process, and environment"—and is by no means a simple matter of "water rinse and cloth wipe." As an expert with 28 years of GRC project maintenance experience, Qinglong Group has, based on extensive project practice, divided GRC cleaning into three levels—"routine care, periodic cleaning, and deep stain removal"—and summarized a safe operating procedure of "inspect first, test second, clean third." In the maintenance of the "China Red" GRC curtain wall of the Wuhan Han Show Theatre, we customized a neutral cleaning agent and soft cleaning tools suited to its smooth surface and special color, successfully removing years of accumulated dust without damaging the surface color, keeping the building radiant even 8 years after completion. Professional, safe cleaning is the key to keeping GRC beautiful for the long term.
Different pollutants require different cleaning agents and methods. Ordinary dust and mud can be rinsed off with low-pressure clean water; industrial dust and vehicle exhaust deposits require neutral cleaning agents; stubborn rust stains, moss, and organic stains may require specialized removers. Before providing service, Qinglong Group first takes samples of the stains for analysis to avoid misusing chemicals that could corrode or discolor the surface. In the cleaning of a street-facing commercial project in Guangzhou, we precisely selected a bio-enzyme cleaning agent through composition analysis, effectively decomposing the organic stains.
The pH of cleaning agents should be close to neutral (6-8); the use of strong acids such as hydrochloric acid and oxalic acid is strictly prohibited. Preferred tools are soft brushes, sponges, and non-woven fabrics; hard objects such as steel wool and stiff brushes are forbidden. The pressure of high-pressure water jets must be controlled below 4MPa, with the nozzle kept at least 30cm from the surface. Qinglong Group provides dedicated cleaning tool kits for key projects to ensure standardized operations. In the roof cleaning of the Hainan Convention and Exhibition Center, we used long-handled soft brushes combined with low-pressure water mist to complete the large-area work safely and efficiently.
The standard procedure is: pre-wet with clean water → apply cleaning agent (let stand for 3-5 minutes) → gently scrub with a soft brush → rinse thoroughly with clean water → air-dry naturally. For complex shapes or relief areas, extra care is needed to avoid cleaning agent residue. Qinglong Group requires an inspection in backlight after cleaning to ensure there is no residue or water marks. In the GRC molding cleaning project for a historic building in Shanghai, we restored its exquisite detailing through meticulous operation.
For special textured surfaces such as stone-effect and wood-grain finishes, extra caution is needed during cleaning to protect the texture. In special environments such as coastal areas and industrial zones, the cleaning frequency should be increased, or anti-stain coatings should be applied. Qinglong Group can provide customers with long-term maintenance service plans that include cleaning, keeping buildings forever young.
Scientific cleaning not only restores the beauty of GRC but is also an important preventive maintenance measure. Qinglong Group is willing to transform its 28 years of cleaning experience into standardized services, providing professional and reliable cleaning and maintenance solutions for your buildings.
