Precision control of jointing for multi-curved UHPC shapes is the core technology for ensuring a smooth overall visual effect and structural safety, involving the systematic engineering of "surveying and setting out, connection adjustment, and error absorption." In mega-scale projects such as the 120,000 m² wave-shaped roof of the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center and the 9,000-panel double-curved curtain wall of the Wuhan Han Show Theatre, Qinglong Group set its jointing precision standards at: joint width deviation ≤±1.5mm, height difference between adjacent panel surfaces ≤2mm, and overall curved surface smoothness error ≤3mm/2m. By introducing surveying robots (setting-out accuracy ±1″), 3D adjustable connectors (adjustment range ±10mm), and laser scanning inspection technology, we successfully controlled the cumulative installation error of tens of thousands of specially shaped panels within ±5mm, achieving "millimeter-level" precision alignment.
Before installation, the base structure and each precast panel must be measured precisely. We use total stations to establish a high-precision control network and 3D laser scanners to obtain point cloud data of the installation surface, which is compared with the BIM design model to calculate the deviation between the theoretical and actual installation positions of each panel. In the double-curved curtain wall project of the Nanning New Media Center, advance scanning revealed local unevenness in the base structure, which was compensated by adjusting the connectors, avoiding extensive adjustments during installation.
For multi-curved shapes, it is difficult to achieve perfectly tight joints during installation, so the connection system must be relied upon to absorb errors. Qinglong Group's patented 3D adjustable hangers allow fine adjustment in three directions—horizontal, vertical, and in-out (total adjustment range typically ≥±15mm). Connection points are designed as slotted holes or fitted with adjustment bolts, enabling installers to fine-tune panel positions according to measurement data, ensuring uniform joints and flat panel surfaces.
Precision control is a dynamic process. We follow a cyclic workflow of "surveying–positioning–initial fixing–rechecking–final fixing." As soon as one area is installed, laser scanning verification is carried out immediately to generate deviation cloud maps that guide the installation of the next area. In the Shenzhen Yirui Biotechnology Building project, this real-time feedback closed-loop management system increased installation efficiency by 30% and achieved a first-time acceptance pass rate of 99.8%. Behind the precision lies rigorous process control and advanced technical support.
