Precision positioning of embedded parts in double-curved GRC panels requires solving three major challenges: "surface parameterization, thermal deformation, and construction errors." The core approach is using a BIM model to drive CNC machining of the positioning mold. In the double-curved roof project at the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center, Qinglong Group adopted the "digital coordinate method": assigning a unique 3D coordinate (X, Y, Z) to each embedded part in the BIM model, machining positioning slots on the mold with five-axis CNC (positional tolerance ±0.2mm), and verifying installed embedded parts with a coordinate measuring machine. This technology kept the positional error of 12,000 embedded parts within ±1.5mm, laying the foundation for subsequent installation. Precision positioning is the first checkpoint for ensuring connection safety.
Parametric positioning is the key to efficiency. Positioning algorithms written in Grasshopper automatically optimize the orientation of embedded parts based on surface curvature. In the double-curved panels of the Nanning New Media Center, the normal deviation of embedded parts was ≤1°, ensuring rational load distribution. We have established a positioning database, allowing parameters to be directly retrieved for similar curved surfaces.
Thermal compensation cannot be overlooked. The difference in thermal expansion coefficients between the mold and GRC must be compensated in advance. Through thermodynamic calculations, Qinglong Group appropriately retracts the embedded part positions inward by 0.3-0.5mm during summer production. Materials with matched thermal expansion coefficients are used to reduce the impact of temperature differences.
Process control guarantees final precision. The first piece of each batch undergoes coordinate measuring machine inspection, and mass production may only begin after passing inspection. We use RFID tags to track the position information of each embedded part. Precision positioning is the cornerstone of quality assurance.
