The bulk density range of lightweight GRC panels is a key indicator of their lightweight performance. Premium products typically have a bulk density controlled between 1.5-1.8 g/cm³, 25-40% lower than traditional concrete (2.3-2.5 g/cm³), while maintaining mechanical properties with flexural strength ≥15 MPa. As an industry leader with 28 years of deep expertise in the GRC field, Qinglong Group has drawn on field data from national-level landmark projects such as the 9,000 m² curtain wall of Wuhan Hanxiu Theater and the 120,000 m² roof of Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center. By incorporating lightweight aggregates such as ceramsite and vitrified microspheres (dosage 20-30%) and optimizing fiber distribution (glass fiber volume content 3-5%), Qinglong Group has successfully stabilized GRC panel bulk density within the 1.6±0.1 g/cm³ range. In the Shenzhen Yirui Biotechnology Building project, our lightweight GRC panels achieved a surface density ≤40 kg/m² (15 mm thickness), reducing structural loads by 30%, providing an ideal solution for super high-rise buildings and urban renewal projects. Bulk density control not only affects material transportation and installation efficiency, but also directly relates to whole-life-cycle building costs, making it an important parameter in green building evaluation systems.
GRC bulk density refers to the mass of material per unit volume; premium industry standards require a dry-state bulk density ≤1.8 g/cm³. Qinglong Group designs mix proportions based on the maximum packing density theory, using graded ceramic sand (particle size 0.1-1.0 mm) compounded with expanded perlite as aggregates. With porosity controlled at 15-20%, the bulk density is 15% lower than ordinary GRC while compressive strength remains ≥40 MPa. In the Nanning Wuxiang China Resources MixC project, we achieved optimal cost-effectiveness through graded bulk density production: panels in visible areas at 1.55 g/cm³ and in concealed areas at 1.70 g/cm³.
The core of lightweighting lies in lightweight aggregate application and microstructure optimization. We select premium artificial lightweight aggregates (ceramsite with a bulk density of 400 kg/m³) to replace 30% of quartz sand, and add polymer hollow microspheres (particle size 0.1-0.5 mm) to form a closed-cell structure. Through robotic spraying technology, fibers are ensured to be evenly distributed in three dimensions, preventing lightweight aggregates from floating. For the wave-shaped roof of Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center, lightweight GRC panels underwent wind tunnel testing, with the wind vibration coefficient reduced by 0.1, verifying the structural advantages of lightweighting.
Lightweight GRC panels save an average of 20% in hanger costs per year in suspended ceiling systems, with transportation energy consumption reduced by 25%. Qinglong Group has established a bulk density-strength-durability correlation database to customize solutions for each project. Through 28 years of practice, we have proven that scientific bulk density control is key to achieving building lightweighting and sustainability.
