Sealant type for UHPC curtain wall panel joints must be selected based on joint width, deformation amount, and service environment. Key indicators include movement capability (≥25%), durability (≥25 years), and bonding strength (≥0.5MPa). Qinglong Group used single-component silicone sealant (movement capability ±50%) with joint widths of 12-15mm on the Binhai project of the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center. After 10 years of exposure to a high salt spray environment, there has been no cracking and no debonding. Sealant selection must comprehensively consider climate conditions: neutral silicone sealant (fast curing) for hot and humid regions; modified silane (good elasticity) for severely cold regions; fluorocarbon-modified sealant (strong weather resistance) for areas with intense ultraviolet radiation. Scientific selection is the key to ensuring curtain wall watertightness and airtightness.
Use silicone sealant for dynamic joints (deformation >15%) and polyurethane sealant for static joints. Qinglong Group determines sealant joint width by calculating thermal deformation (ΔL=α·L·ΔT). In the hyperbolic panels of the Wuhan Hanxiu Theater, the joint width is 20mm, and high-elasticity sealant is used to accommodate curved surface deformation. Bonding tests are essential to ensure compatibility with UHPC.
The backer rod diameter should be greater than 1.2 times the joint width, and the sealant application thickness should be ≥ 1/2 of the joint width. Qinglong Group's construction team is certified for the job to ensure quality. Regular maintenance extends service life, with inspections every 5 years.
In the Shenzhen Yirui Biotechnology Building project, the sealing system withstood the test of typhoons. We provide a 25-year warranty, so customers have peace of mind. Correct sealant selection safeguards the century-long endeavor.
