Steam curing of GRC components in low-temperature environments must compensate for low-temperature effects through "preheating treatment + gradient temperature increase + extended insulation time" to ensure the hydration reaction proceeds fully. In projects in northern regions, for ambient temperatures of 0-10°C, Qinglong Group extended the curing cycle from the standard 24 hours to 36-48 hours: first preheating components to above 15°C, raising the temperature to 60°C at a rate of ≤10°C/h, extending the constant-temperature period to 28-32 hours, and lowering the temperature at a rate of ≤15°C/h. Through these adjustments, GRC can still achieve over 75% of its 28-day strength at low temperatures, avoiding freeze damage and strength loss. In a winter construction project in Shenyang, we produced high-quality GRC components meeting the 150MPa compressive strength target through precise temperature control.
Before curing, components are moved to a preheating room (temperature ≥15°C) and left to stand for 12 hours to eliminate the risk of ice crystals. The steam curing kiln is preheated in advance to avoid condensation. Qinglong Group uses a hot air circulation system to ensure uniform temperature inside the kiln.
The heating rate is reduced to 10°C/h and the constant-temperature stage is extended by 30% to promote the hydration reaction at low temperatures. The core temperature of components is monitored to prevent excessive temperature differences between inside and outside. Scientific curing overcomes low-temperature challenges.
