Wind pressure deformation performance testing of GRC curtain walls requires a triple verification system of "laboratory simulation + on-site monitoring + numerical analysis" to ensure safety and applicability under extreme wind loads. Drawing on 28 years of curtain wall engineering experience, Qinglong Group has established a complete testing process through projects such as the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center (basic wind pressure 0.85kN/m²) and the Shenzhen Pingshan High-tech Zone Comprehensive Service Center (wind pressure 0.75kN/m²): determining wind pressure coefficients through wind tunnel tests, testing panel deformation with the static air pressure box method, installing fiber Bragg grating sensors to monitor real-time strain, and verifying structural safety through finite element analysis. Our testing data shows that under 1.5 times the design wind pressure, quality GRC curtain walls achieve a maximum deflection of ≤L/250 (L is the panel span) and a residual deformation of ≤0.1mm, fully meeting code requirements.
Using the static air pressure box method in accordance with the "Test Methods for Airtightness, Watertightness and Wind Pressure Resistance Performance of Building Curtain Walls" standard, pressure is applied stepwise up to 1.5 times the design wind pressure. Qinglong Group's laboratory is equipped with a 200m² large-scale testing chamber capable of testing components with panel sizes up to 6m×3m. In testing for the Nanning Wuxiang China Resources MixC One project, the GRC panels showed a deflection of 3.2mm under 2.0kPa wind pressure (panel span 2.4m), far below the limit of 9.6mm. Fatigue tests are also carried out to simulate 50 years of wind vibration, ensuring the reliability of connection joints.
Fiber Bragg grating sensors (accuracy ±1με) are installed to monitor wind-induced strain, and total stations (accuracy ±1″) are used to measure wind vibration displacement. In the Hainan project, we deployed 20 measurement points with real-time data transmission; at the maximum wind pressure of 0.95kN/m², strain reached only 85με, leaving ample safety margin. Drone aerial photography combined with image recognition is used to analyze overall deformation patterns.
Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is used to simulate wind pressure distribution, while finite element analysis (FEA) calculates stress and strain. Qinglong Group uses ANSYS software and accounts for fluid-structure interaction effects to accurately predict responses under typhoon conditions. This testing system ensures that GRC curtain walls remain safe and worry-free under once-in-a-century wind pressures.
