The impermeability of UHPC products is a key indicator of their durability. High-quality products have a water absorption rate controlled below 3% and a chloride ion diffusion coefficient as low as 2.0×10⁻¹² m²/s, making them virtually impermeable. Qinglong Group has reduced product porosity to within 5% and achieved an impermeability grade of P12 or above by optimizing mix proportions and processes, delivering outstanding performance in high-temperature, high-humidity projects such as the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center. Our UHPC products underwent a 96-hour impermeability test with no water seepage, fully meeting the requirements for use in severe environments.
Impermeability stems from material density. Qinglong UHPC uses the maximum density packing theory to design its mix proportions, with continuous aggregate gradation and full powder filling. The water-binder ratio is controlled at 0.18-0.22, with workability ensured by polycarboxylate superplasticizers. Uniformly distributed fibers form a barrier network that further reduces permeability. Mercury intrusion porosimetry testing shows that the most probable pore diameter of our products is ≤50nm, effectively blocking moisture and ion migration.
Standard testing verifies impermeability performance. Qinglong Group conducts impermeability tests in accordance with the 'Standard for Test Methods of Long-Term Performance and Durability of Ordinary Concrete', applying a water pressure of 1.2MPa for 96 hours with no seepage in the specimens. The chloride ion diffusion coefficient is measured using the RCM method, with values ≤2.0×10⁻¹² m²/s—one hundredth that of ordinary concrete. These figures provide a reliable basis for design.
Engineering applications require systematic protection. Qinglong Group sets up multiple waterproofing lines in its curtain wall systems: elastic sealant at panel joints and drainage cavities at the back. In coastal areas, we recommend adding surface protective coatings, such as silane impregnation treatment, to reduce the water absorption rate to below 1%. Through the synergy of materials and systems, the impermeability of UHPC can meet the highest engineering standards.
