The safety of high-rise residential exterior walls is a lifeline of public concern. As a high-performance envelope material, the anti-detachment safety of UHPC panels is a systematic engineering endeavor, by no means relying solely on bonding or a single hanger. Based on practice in super high-rise residential projects, Qinglong Group has established a four-fold defense system of "mechanical anchoring as the primary means, flexible connections for stress release, multiple redundancy design, and regular monitoring and maintenance," eliminating detachment risk at the design source, with a safety factor far higher than traditional thin plaster or tile systems.
The first line of defense is a reliable mechanical anchoring system. We use "pressure-plate type" or "undercut anchor type" metal hangers forming rigid connections with the embedded parts (stainless steel sleeves or threaded rods) behind the UHPC panels, which are then anchored to the main structure through adjustable connectors. The design value of the pull-out load-bearing capacity of a single connection point is usually no less than 3kN, and is verified through rigorous physical destructive testing. The number and layout of hanging points are determined through finite element analysis, ensuring that under the most unfavorable wind loads (including negative wind pressure) and seismic action, the actual force on each hanging point is far below its load-bearing capacity.
The second line of defense is the flexible design of the connection system. A three-dimensionally adjustable hanger system is adopted, allowing controlled minor displacement between the UHPC panels and the structure during temperature changes, wind loads, or minor foundation settlement, thereby releasing stress and avoiding stress accumulation that could cause connector fatigue or panel cracking. This design philosophy of "overcoming rigidity with flexibility" is an important guarantee of long-term safety.
The third line of defense is redundant safety design. In addition to the main load-bearing hanging points, auxiliary anti-detachment constructions are added around the panels, such as anti-lifting clips at the top of panels and mutually restraining constructions between panels. Meanwhile, the strength and toughness of the UHPC panels themselves are strictly controlled to ensure they fragment rather than detach entirely under accidental impact. The fourth line of defense is establishing a regular inspection system. Special inspections are conducted in the 1st, 3rd, and 5th years after delivery, followed by a comprehensive inspection every 5 years thereafter, focusing on whether connection points are loose or corroded, whether the sealant has aged, and so on. Through these four rigorous lines of defense, Qinglong Group's UHPC exterior wall system provides one of the most reliable exterior wall safety solutions to date for high-rise residences.
