The combined application of UHPC curtain walls with glass curtain walls is a common form in modern architecture, requiring close attention to three key aspects: joint sealing, thermal performance, and structural coordination. Based on experience from multiple landmark projects, Qinglong Group believes that a high-quality combined system should achieve joint width tolerance of ±1.5mm, thermal performance U-value ≤1.5W/(m²·K), and seismic displacement adaptability of ±20mm. Through scientific design, combined curtain walls are both aesthetically pleasing and fully functional, enhancing the overall quality of the building. Combined applications involve material differences that require refined treatment to ensure harmony and unity.
Joint design is the key to a successful combination. Joint width is typically 10-15mm, filled with elastic sealant to accommodate differential material deformation. In its Shenzhen project, Qinglong Group used BIM clash detection to avoid design conflicts. Silicone-based sealant was selected, with movement capability ≥25% and a service life of over 20 years. Drainage channels are incorporated in the joint construction to prevent water accumulation and leakage. For curved panels, joints require special design to allow three-dimensional movement. These design measures ensure that the joints are safe and reliable.
Thermal performance optimization prevents thermal bridging. Thermal breaks are installed at the connections between UHPC and glass, using nylon or stainless steel insulation strips. In its northern China projects, Qinglong Group controlled the U-value below 1.2W/(m²·K) through thermal calculations. Low-emissivity glass was selected to match the insulation performance of UHPC. Condensation risk analysis is performed to prevent condensation. These measures improve building energy efficiency.
Structural coordination ensures safety. Relative movement between UHPC and glass is allowed to accommodate wind loads and temperature changes. Connection design accounts for stiffness differences between the materials to avoid stress concentration. Qinglong Group optimized the layout of connection points through finite element analysis. In seismic fortification zones, energy dissipation devices are added. With scientific design, combined curtain walls are both safe and aesthetically pleasing.
