The color durability of colored UHPC curtain wall panels is a core indicator of their aesthetic lifespan, constrained by multiple factors including pigment stability, surface treatment, and environmental influences. Based on accelerated aging tests and actual project tracking, Qinglong Group holds that for premium colored UHPC, the color difference change ΔE should be ≤3.0 (after 3,000 hours of UV aging), weather resistance should reach grade 7-8, and color retention should be ≥90% over the service life. Through inorganic mineral pigments, fluorocarbon coatings, and regular maintenance, Qinglong colored UHPC used in the roofing project of the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center has shown a ΔE of only 1.5 after 5 years of use, far exceeding industry standards. Color durability not only affects aesthetics but also relates to the long-term value of buildings, requiring systematic safeguards.
Pigment selection is the foundation of color retention. Iron oxide-based inorganic pigments with light resistance of grade 7-8 are used to avoid the fading associated with organic pigments. In the Shenzhen Yirui Biotechnology Building project, Qinglong Group used a pigment dosage of 1%-2%; after 5,000 hours of UV aging, the ΔE was ≤2.0. Pigment particle size control is also crucial, with an average particle size of 0.2-0.5 μm to ensure uniform dispersion. For special color requirements, such as metallic colors, metal oxide pigments are adopted for superior weather resistance. Pigment-matrix compatibility must be tested to avoid discoloration caused by chemical reactions. These measures ensure color stability at the source.
Surface treatment builds a protective barrier. Fluorocarbon coatings have a dry film thickness of ≥30 μm and a UV blocking rate of ≥95%. In coastal projects, Qinglong Group adopts a two-layer coating system, with the primer enhancing adhesion and the topcoat providing weather resistance. Coatings are renewed regularly, every 5-7 years, to restore protective performance. The application of self-cleaning coatings reduces stain adhesion and keeps colors vibrant. Environmental control during construction, with temperature at 15-35°C and humidity ≤80%, ensures coating quality. Through these treatments, color durability is significantly improved.
Environmental adaptability and maintenance are important. In highly polluted areas, the frequency of protection should be increased; in coastal areas, attention should be paid to salt spray corrosion. Qinglong Group recommends cleaning once a year using neutral cleaning agents to avoid damaging the coating. Regular inspections should be conducted, and any fading should be addressed promptly. With scientific maintenance, colors remain as good as new for the long term. Colored UHPC curtain walls add lasting charm to buildings.
