The abrasion resistance of UHPC shows a significant positive correlation with compressive strength, but the relationship is not simply linear—it is also affected by multiple factors such as fiber reinforcement and aggregate hardness. Qinglong Group's test data show that when compressive strength increases from 120MPa to 150MPa, wear loss decreases by approximately 30%; however, at the same strength level, the abrasion resistance of UHPC with steel fibers is more than 50% higher than that of plain UHPC, indicating that the fiber bridging effect contributes more to wear resistance. This composite reinforcement mechanism makes UHPC particularly suitable for wear-resistant floors, bridge deck pavements, and similar applications.
Strength is the foundation of wear resistance. A high-strength matrix resists indentation and cutting, reducing wear loss. In Qinglong Group's heavy-load flooring projects, UHPC with a compressive strength ≥150MPa achieved a wear loss ≤0.5g/cm², far below the 2.0g/cm² of C40 concrete. Fiber reinforcement is critical: with a 2% steel fiber volume fraction, abrasion resistance more than doubles, as the fibers prevent aggregate spalling. Aggregate hardness is also important—quartz sand (Mohs hardness 7) outperforms ordinary river sand, further enhancing wear resistance. Scientific proportioning achieves optimal abrasion resistance.
