The jointing precision of curved GRC shapes is a key technical indicator for ensuring the smoothness of a building's appearance and its structural safety. As Qinglong Group, with 28 years of deep expertise in the GRC field, we draw on practical experience from major projects such as the Wuhan Han Show Theatre and the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center to conclude that the jointing precision of high-quality curved GRC must meet strict standards: panel joint width deviation ≤±1.5mm, joint height difference ≤1.0mm, and 3D positioning error ≤±2mm. This level of precision control requires refined management throughout the entire process from design and production to installation.
Panel joint width control is the foundation of precision. Based on thermal deformation calculations and visual requirements, the panel joint width of curved GRC is typically designed at 8-15mm. In the double-curved panel project for the Shenzhen Yirui Biotechnology Building, Qinglong Group used BIM model pre-assembly to keep the actual panel joint width deviation within ±1mm. For large-curvature panels (curvature radius <1m), the joint width is appropriately increased to 12-18mm to prevent collisions caused by fabrication errors. Special joint fillers are used to ensure uniform sealant thickness, guaranteeing both waterproofing and aesthetics.
Joint smoothness affects the visual effect. The height difference between adjacent panels must be ≤1.0mm, with gradient treatment applied in transition zones. In the wavy facade project of Nanning Wuxiang China Resources MixC One, Qinglong Group used 3D laser scanning inspection to keep joint misalignment within 0.8mm. For complex curved surfaces, profile-machined connectors are used to ensure smooth transitions between panels. This fine control prevents the curved GRC curtain wall from producing obvious shadow divisions under sunlight.
3D positioning accuracy determines the overall shape. A total station is used for spatial coordinate setting-out, with positioning error ≤±2mm. In the 120,000-square-meter wavy roof project of the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center, a measurement control network was established to keep the cumulative error of tens of thousands of double-curved panels within 10mm. Adjustable connection systems are used during installation, allowing ±5mm of fine-tuning to ensure the final formed effect is consistent with the design.
