How to Prevent Edge and Corner Damage When Transporting UHPC Components?

Protecting UHPC components from edge and corner damage during transportation is a critical part of quality assurance. Based on 28 years of logistics experience, Qinglong Group has summarized four measures—packaging design, loading fixation, transport control, and unloading protection—to keep the transport damage rate below 0.1%.

Packaging design is the foundation of protection. Dedicated corner protectors are fitted at the edges, made of rigid plastic or rubber with a thickness of ≥20mm. Components are separated by soft spacers to avoid direct contact. Qinglong Group customizes wooden crates or steel frames for packaging, filled internally with foam boards to ensure stability. The packaging design is verified through simulation analysis to validate the protective effect.

Loading fixation is key. Dedicated racks are used to keep components placed vertically, reducing bending moments. Straps are padded to distribute pressure evenly. Qinglong Group uses torque wrenches to control strap tension and prevent damage from over-tightening. Heavy items are not placed on light ones, and large items are not placed on small ones, with loads distributed rationally.

Transport process control. Vehicle speed is kept at ≤80km/h to avoid sudden braking. Flat routes are selected to reduce jolting. Drivers are trained to be familiar with component characteristics. GPS monitoring provides real-time tracking. Upon arrival at the site, inspection is carried out before unloading to ensure everything is foolproof.
