The production cycle of UHPC components is influenced by material characteristics and process requirements, differing significantly from traditional concrete. Data from Qinglong Group shows that the production cycle for standard UHPC components is 7-10 days, twice as long as traditional concrete (3-5 days), but rapid strength development can partially offset this time cost.
Curing time is the most significant difference. Traditional concrete reaches 70% of its strength after 7 days of natural curing, while UHPC requires steam curing for 24-48 hours to achieve early strength. In the Yirui Biotechnology Building project in Shenzhen, Qinglong Group reduced curing time to 36 hours by optimizing the steam curing regime, but the total cycle remains longer than traditional methods. Mold fabrication is more precise: UHPC molds require CNC machining, with a preparation time of 2-3 days, whereas traditional wooden molds take only 1 day.
The rate of strength development partially compensates for the longer cycle. UHPC can reach 70% of its 28-day strength within 3 days, allowing early demolding. In the Han Show Theater project in Wuhan, early-strength mix design kept the production cycle to 8 days, only 2 days more than traditional methods. However, high quality requirements increase inspection time, as UHPC must undergo a more rigorous testing process.
The overall project timeline requires comprehensive evaluation. The high strength of UHPC allows for reduced cross-sections, saving formwork time; factory prefabrication reduces on-site work. Statistics from Qinglong Group show that buildings using UHPC can shorten the total construction schedule by 15%-20%, with the initially longer production cycle offset by subsequent efficiency gains.
