The impact resistance of GRC decorative panels is a key indicator of their safety, and the corresponding standards must be determined according to the location of use and risk level. Based on extensive test data, Qinglong Group considers that the impact energy resistance of premium GRC panels should be no less than 10 J, while critical locations should exceed 15 J.
Impact energy testing uses the pendulum method. According to the JC/T940 standard, a 1 kg steel ball dropped in free fall from a height of 1 m onto the panel surface should not cause any cracks. In the Shenzhen Pingshan High-Tech Zone project, Qinglong Group raised the impact energy resistance of panels to 12 J by incorporating polypropylene fibers (0.1% by volume). For panels in high-traffic areas, we recommend raising the standard to 15 J to ensure an adequate safety margin.
Standards vary depending on the location of use. Wall panels have relatively low impact resistance requirements, whereas locations such as railings and handrails demand higher standards. In the Nanning Liyuan Hotel project, Qinglong Group applied reinforced designs to GRC panels installed below 1.2 m, achieving an impact energy resistance of 20 J and effectively preventing vandalism.
Temperature effects must also be taken into account. In low-temperature environments of -20°C, the impact resistance of GRC drops by approximately 30%. Therefore, projects in northern regions need to appropriately raise their design standards. Through scientific impact-resistant design, GRC panels can meet the safety requirements of all kinds of service environments.
