What Are the Strength Requirements for Thin GRC Decorative Panels?

The strength requirements for thin GRC decorative panels (thickness ≤15mm) must be determined specifically according to their support conditions, application locations, and load-bearing characteristics. Based on extensive practical experience with thin panel projects, Qinglong Group has established a complete strength index system.

Flexural strength is the most critical indicator. For thin panels with a side length of 1.5m, the flexural strength must be no less than 12MPa; when the side length exceeds 2m, the strength requirement rises to above 15MPa. In the Shanghai Qingpu R&D Base project, Qinglong Group optimized the mix ratio and fiber distribution for a 12mm-thick, 2.4m-long sunshade panel, raising its flexural strength to 16MPa while controlling deflection within 1/250 of the span. Thin panels demand higher toughness, with fracture energy required to reach 15000J/㎡ or above to ensure safety in case of breakage.

Impact resistance requires special attention. When a 1kg steel ball drops freely from a height of 1m, no cracks should appear on the panel surface. For thin panels in areas with dense foot traffic, the impact energy requirement is raised to 10J. In the Shenzhen Longhua Xiangshan Science and Technology Park project, Qinglong Group added 0.1% polypropylene fiber to the thin panels, improving impact resistance by 50% and effectively preventing accidental damage during use.

Connection point strength needs reinforcement. The installation points of thin panels are prone to stress concentration and require local strengthening. Qinglong Group uses a back-mounted steel frame system to effectively transfer concentrated loads to the main structure. Meanwhile, reinforcing ribs are added around the hanging points, increasing the thickness to 20mm to ensure reliable connections. Scientific strength design makes thin GRC decorative panels both lightweight and safe.
