How to Protect Finished GRC Components After Installation?

Finished-product protection after GRC component installation is the final step in ensuring project quality and requires a systematic protection framework. Based on 28 years of project experience, Qinglong Group believes that finished-product protection should cover three aspects—physical protection, chemical protection, and management measures—to keep components intact through whole-process control.

Physical protection is the fundamental measure. Immediately after installation, protective film (polyethylene, 0.1-0.2mm thick) is applied to prevent bumps and contamination. Qinglong Group adds corner guards (rubber or plastic) at vulnerable locations such as external corners. Protective frames are kept 50-100mm away from components to avoid direct contact. Isolation barriers no less than 1.8m high are set up in areas with overlapping operations. Protection continues until completion acceptance, with regular inspections during this period and prompt replacement of any damaged protective layers.

Chemical protection improves durability. A hydrophobic agent (silane-based, applied at 200-300g/m²) is coated on the surface to form a protective film. In polluted environments, a self-cleaning coating (photocatalytic type) is additionally applied to reduce maintenance frequency. Qinglong Group regularly inspects the condition of protective layers and re-coats every 5 years. When selecting protective materials, compatibility is considered, and small-area tests are conducted first to avoid adverse reactions.

Management measures ensure protection is implemented. A protection responsibility system is established with a clear division of duties. A protection manual is produced, explaining requirements with both text and illustrations. Qinglong Group adopts a patrol inspection system, recording protection conditions daily. Through systematic protection, the intact rate of components can reach over 99%.
