In the UHPC (Ultra-High Performance Concrete) market, quotations from different manufacturers do indeed vary significantly, and this gap mainly stems from differences in raw material quality, production processes, technical content, and depth of service. As the Qinglong Group with 28 years of experience in UHPC R&D and manufacturing, we have observed that the price range of UHPC products on the market is typically 800-3,000 RMB per square meter, a gap of more than 3 times. This price difference not only reflects the true cost of the products, but also reflects the differences between manufacturers in technical strength and service level.
Raw material cost is the primary factor causing price differences. High-quality UHPC must use Grade 52.5 Portland cement, alkali-resistant glass fiber with a zirconium content above 16%, and precisely graded silica sand, whereas low-priced products often use ordinary cement and medium-alkali fibers. For the UHPC used by Qinglong Group in the Yirui Biotechnology Building project in Shenzhen, raw material costs accounted for 45% of the quotation, while some low-priced products on the market may have raw material costs of only 30%. This difference in raw materials directly leads to a world of difference in product performance—the compressive strength of high-quality UHPC can reach over 150MPa, while low-priced products often struggle to exceed 120MPa.
The level of investment in production processes also directly affects price. Qinglong Group uses an automated robotic spraying system combined with intelligent curing kilns to ensure uniform fiber distribution and curing precision. Investment in such advanced equipment makes production costs relatively higher, but it guarantees the stability of product performance. In contrast, some small manufacturers still use manual mesh laying or simple mixing processes; although their quotations are lower, product consistency and durability are difficult to guarantee. In the light-transmitting UHPC project at Shanghai Century Plaza, our precision production process ensured the accurate embedding of 8,000 light-conducting rods per square meter—something low-priced products simply cannot achieve.
Technical content and depth of service are another important reason for price differences. High-quality manufacturers provide full-process services from detailed design to installation guidance. For example, Qinglong Group gets involved in the early stage of projects to conduct BIM clash detection, avoiding losses from later changes. Low-priced suppliers, on the other hand, often only provide the materials themselves, lacking technical support. In the Algeria hotel project, our technical service team provided on-site installation guidance, ensuring the precise positioning of the hollow-out panels—value-added services that cannot be included in low-price quotations.
In summary, the price gap among UHPC manufacturers is indeed considerable, but behind this gap lies a true reflection of product quality, technical strength, and service level. When making a choice, owners should not simply compare quotations, but should comprehensively consider the full life-cycle cost of the products and select the solution with the best value for money.
