GRC exterior wall construction in high-temperature regions requires comprehensive measures to control moisture evaporation: keep the construction temperature between 5-35℃, and take shading measures when it exceeds 30℃; cover the surface with water-retaining film (PE film thickness ≥0.1mm); use retarding water-reducing agents to extend setting time; and spray curing agents to form a water-retaining film. These measures can reduce the moisture evaporation rate by more than 50%.
In a project in Dubai, where summer temperatures reached over 45℃, construction was successfully completed through the following measures: working during the cooler early morning and evening hours; using a specialized curing agent (water retention rate ≥90%); and setting up movable shading canopies. Post-construction testing showed that GRC strength developed normally, with no shrinkage cracks.
When the daily maximum temperature exceeds 30℃, schedule construction before 10 a.m. or after 4 p.m. Avoid the hot midday period, and stop construction when the temperature exceeds 35℃.
Immediately after construction, cover with PE film with an overlap width ≥100mm. Apply curing agent at 150-200g/㎡ to form a continuous film. Install shading nets to reduce the surface temperature by 5-8℃.
Use retarding water-reducing agents to extend the initial setting time to 3-4 hours. Add water-retaining components to raise the mortar water retention rate to ≥90%. Appropriately increase the amount of cementitious materials to improve crack resistance.
Use intermittent spray curing, spraying water for 5 minutes every 2 hours. Use wet curing blankets to keep the surface continuously moist. Extend the curing period to more than 14 days.
High-temperature construction requires a systematic approach. Through comprehensive technical measures, the construction quality of GRC exterior walls in high-temperature regions can be assured.
