The load-bearing zone is a reinforced area in GRC components specially fitted with steel mesh, which bears concentrated loads and transmits stress. The load-bearing zone should extend ≥150mm beyond the edge of load application, with steel mesh spacing ≤50mm and a cover thickness ≥15mm. Properly arranged load-bearing zones can increase the local compressive strength of components by 3 times.
Tests show that slabs without a load-bearing zone developed through cracks under a 10kN concentrated load, while those with a load-bearing zone achieved a load capacity of 30kN. A GRC corridor parapet with embedded fittings in the load-bearing zone showed no cracks after 5 years of use, while in a comparable project without a load-bearing zone, radial cracks have already appeared around the fittings.
Set at concentrated load application points; set at stress concentration areas; these principles guide placement.
Steel mesh spacing ≤50mm; cover thickness ≥15mm; these requirements ensure effectiveness.
Extend ≥150mm beyond the load edge; these methods determine the zone extent.
Steel bar position deviation ≤3mm; these criteria control quality.
The design of load-bearing zones is very important. Qinglong GRC applies scientific design to ensure safety.
